CYCLONE's 'Brutal Destruction' To Receive CD Release

August 9, 2007

Metal Mind Productions will issue a remastered edition of one of the most intriguing releases in the history of Belgian thrash metal scene: "Brutal Destruction" by CYCLONE. Due in Europe on August 27 (October 22 in the U.S. via MVD),it is the first time the LP has been made available on CD, featuring eight crushing tracks that showcase the band's impressive skills and brilliant songwriting. The CD will be made available in a new digipack edition on golden disc, digitally remastered using 24-bit technology, and limited to a hand-numbered 2,000 copies.

As previously reported, the 1985 "In the Grip of Evil" demo cassette by CYCLONE has been made available for download at the Bang! Bang! metal demo blog.

According to the blog post, "This three-song gem bears plenty of resemblance to RAZOR and 'Show No Mercy'-era SLAYER, and landed the band a deal with Roadrunner Records, who released CYCLONE's speed metal cult classic 'Brutal Destruction' the following year.

"At some point the band befriended a young Christian Olde Wolbers (FEAR FACTORY guitarist who once toured in KORN) and taught him the ways of well-brewed Belgian metal. 'The guys who taught me were the guys from CYCLONE,' he told Lords of Metal. 'Those guys were from an older generation then I was. They where THE band from Belgium, you know.'"

Bang! Bang!, the weblog of Ian Christe (author of "Sound of the Beast" and host on Sirius Satellite Radio's Hard Attack),is dedicated to "celebrating the tradition of freely-traded heavy metal demo cassettes and preserving the pioneer spirit of the underground, one magnetic particle at a time."
